Biography of the Director General :
Mrs. Latifa El Bouabdellaoui is the sixth Director General of the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade, ICDT. She assumed her duties on February 1st, 2020.
Before her appointment, Mrs. Latifa El Bouabdellaoui held the position of Director of International Trade Relations at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco from April 2013 to February 2020. Her career at this Ministry was strongly marked by her active participation in the definition and implementation of the national strategy of international trade. She was the Kingdom of Morocco’s chief negotiator for several Economic Partnership Agreements, including the Agreement with the European Union and the Agreement on the AfCFTA.
From 2009 to 2013, Ms. Latifa El Bouabdellaoui was, respectively, Head of the Mechanical and Metallurgical Industries and Offshoring Departments at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and New Technologies. She contributed to the development of the country’s industrial strategy and the monitoring of large-scale investment projects, as well as to the promotion of cooperation relations between Morocco and its foreign partners including international and regional organizations in charge of trade and industry affairs.
Since joining ICDT, she has been working on the promotion and facilitation of trade and investment in the OIC region and has been striving to provide private actors and institutions operating in trade and investment in the OIC Member States with a value proposition that would enable them to upgrade their capacities up to international standards and facilitate their access to global trade and investment markets. Similarly, she spares no effort to support the 57 OIC Member States, by providing them with the necessary programs and tools for their development, both in partnership with regional and international stakeholders.
Mrs. El Bouabdellaoui relies on innovation and new technologies to promote ICDT as a reference institution in the field of trade and investment promotion in the OIC region.
